Our company only works with agencies and suppliers that align with environmental sustainability first in mind. We follow our institutions’ recommendations to the best of our ability and capacity for maintaining a sustainable business model. Our products are those which can be renewed with ease and are near icons for sustainability. All of our actions necessitate us taking responsibility for long-term development.
As part of our growth and our constant stewardship towards the environment, at Handy Trading S.A. we take into account various acpects:
•Reducing consumption of natural resources: Our teams always strive to gain significant opportunities to reduce the volume of natural resources used as a part of doing business. Simple steps such as optimizing packaging types and processes, to the types of transport used for these products are key to our business. Not only does the environment benefit from this, but also our customers as costs are reduced.
•Sourcing materials responsibly: All of the products we export are found within the Nicaraguan Territory. When sourcing raw materials or individual components from outside vendors, our teams have staff inspect the origin as well as production process of each of these items. We ensure that our partners follow fair labor practices, embracing fair-trade agreements, and are aware of the benefits and damages that their products could have on the environment.
•Reducing carbon emissions: As a key component, reducing carbon emissions is another one of our essential steps when conducting business. Installing smart sensors within your facilities can ensure that heating, cooling, and electricity are automatically shut off when it isn’t necessary are some steps taken, alongside using green fuel sources when available.
Better Insight into our Practices
Recycling of Goods & Raw Products
Any excess inventory we have, we will put up for sale such that items are either purchased for good use,or discarded of accordingly.
Gathering of raw products (such as wood and crops) is useful for disposing of wasted material, as organic matter is easier to dispose of.
Even for more complex goods/producs, such as furniture, we bid the excess items for the best buyer, guaranteeing that their purposes for usage of the item(s) are for appropriate reuse.
Responsible Supply Chain
We only purchase the exact amount requested by our customers to minimize losses.
Ensuring that all products are grouped alongside the supply chain and properly taken care of, minimizes the chance for wasted material (especially edibles).
We are Always opting for the greener methods of transport where possible.
Compliant & Minimalistic Packaging
We only purschase then necessary packaging for the products needed, whilst complying with regulatory body standards.
If there are recycled packages (such as cardboard boxes), instead of newly created ones, we opt for extending the life of the old packages to their absolute limit.
We make connections for sellers of ‘discarded’ products in order to avoid material going to waste, or even accepting ‘junk’ to repurpose it.
United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity. As Handy Trading S.A., we are adopting the Sustainable Development Goals to our methods of business.
After realizing that the previous eight Millennium Development Goals were too narrow, the General Assembly expanded the SDGs to 17, allowing participating organizations to focus not only on the big picture (ending poverty), but also addressing the supporting issues in order to sustainably create a world without poverty. It’s not just goals. There are also 169 targets that determine whether those goals are met, alongside several hundred indicators which are being used to measure progress towards achieving the goals and targets.
Effective change begins with the organization’s leadership. A public commitment by the chief executive, with support from the Board of Directors, is required to participate in the Global Compact. Leadership must send a strong signal throughout the organization that sustainability counts, and all responsibilities are important.
